Another fire at the Hôpital Richaud

6/10/09 – Heritage – Versailles, Hôpital Richaud – For the third time in two years, a fire broke out in the attic of the Hôpital Richaud and damaged part of the roof, just a few days after the announcement that a solution had been found to rehabilitate it.

This series of catastrophes points the responsibility directly to the Ministry of Justice, owner of this listed monument which it has allowed to fall into ruins over the last few years. The mayor of Versailles, François de Mazières, had said himself that this establishment was not well protected. The many photographs of the building available for viewing on the blog Sauver Richaud show the extent to which the government has failed to maintain this property which is a listed monument.
