14/9/12 - Appointment - Versailles, Musée national du château - We had announced it on 24 July, expressing our indignation. The appointment of Jacques Moulin as chief architect of historical monuments (ACMH) in charge of the gardens at Versailles went into effect on 15 August, after being signed by the French Ministry of Culture.

We wrote about it previously and refer our readers to our articles : this appointment is not only a mistake, but the first fault committed by the Minister of Culture who should have never, on this point, followed the proposal put forth by the Presidency of the château. Following the publication of our article, we received several dismayed messages from persons familiar with Jacques Moulin’s work. Some even attempted to prevent his appointment, but alas, to no avail.
Our only consolation is that given there is no funding available, no new projects will be assigned to the new ACMH of the gardens for another two years at least. For once, the economic crisis has its up side...
