Sébastien Allard Appointed Director of the Département des Peintures at the Louvre

13/4/14 - Appointment - Paris, Musée du Louvre - Sébastien Allard was appointed Director of the Département des peintures at the Musée du Louvre today.
A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieur and Conservateur en chef du patrimoine, Sébastien Allard was until now in charge of 19th century French painting, Neo-Classicism since the departure of Sylvain Laveissière and the period of 1815-1848, his specialization, for which he has published several books, some in association with Marie-Claude Chaudonneret.
He recently organized a retrospective in Madrid on Delacroix and co-curated, along with Henri Loyrette, the exhibition "De l’Allemagne".

This appointment comes as no surprise, the die was cast long before the four applicants were interviewed by the selection jury (indeed, a useless formality) as reflected in the fact that this article was written four days ago and published by simply clicking on "post online".
