The Art Tribune could not visit the Hotel de la Marine

24/12/10 – Heritage – Paris, Hotel de la Marine – In an article appearing on 21 December 2010, in French, we denounced the extremely secretive nature of the dealings concerning the Hotel de la Marine and, particularly, the call for projects launched by France-Domaine in order to grant a long-term lease to the future tenants.

Since it was impossible to obtain any documents through official channels (though we then found them elsewhere and posted them online) and visit the entire building as allowed for those companies wishing to apply, we thus expressed The Art Tribune’s desire to present a project. We fulfilled the necessary requirements in a registered-return requested letter mailed on 15 December 2010, with a copy via email. We were to be granted two visits total, accompanied by five people each time. We submitted two possible dates : Tuesday, 21 December 2010 at 4 pm and Thursday, 23 December at 10 am. Not having received any confirmation from France-Domaines, either via email, mail or telephone, we nevertheless went to the Hotel de la Marine for the first visit at the appointed hour. The head of the offices told us he could not let us in as he had not been notified of our visit by those in charge of the Hotel de la Marine case at France-Domaines and that they were absent any way.

We wonder : are some applicants more privileged than others ? We sincerely hope not. We trust therefore that we will soon be able to visit the Hotel de la Marine.
