Lyon, Musée des Beaux-Arts

December 28, 2007 — Temporary hang — Paris, Musée du Louvre — The Flight into Egypt by Nicolas Poussin, recently acquired by the Musée de Lyon with significant financial assistance from the Louvre (see News of 18/7/07) is being exhibited at the Parisian museum until February 4th, surrounded by the artist’s other paintings, room 17 of the Flore wing.

This is the first time that this magnificent work is available for public viewing since it was rediscovered and purchased by the Pardo brothers who had shown it at their gallery in 1989. An exhibition-study will be centered around the painting in Lyon from 15 February until 19 May 2008 before it hangs permanently in this museum’s collections.
