5/7/08 — Heritage — Paris, Musée du Petit Palais — When the Petit Palais reopened in 2005, we had been especially critical of the building’s restoration, commenting on the missing gilded garlands which originally decorated the portico of the central courtyard (see article of 30/12/05, in French on La Tribune de l’Art).
Therefore, it is only fair to point out that these famous garlands, which had not been restored at the time due to budget reasons, have been reinstalled (ill.). This has set us daydreaming about other errors which might be corrected in the future (gilding of decorative elements and sculptural groups of children above the portico, black lead paint on the dome, etc.).
