Over the past few years, the Musée Gustave Moreau has organized exhibitions highlighting a particular aspect of the master's art, a theme, a previously unexplored facet, a part of the immense oeuvre residing in this private residence on the rue de La Rochefoucauld. We know that the museum, which Moreau wished to be in his "studio-home", obviously does not have a temporary exhibition space

The Metropolitan Museum recently acquired two 17th and 19th century paintings, their only point in common being that they are both from Italy. The first is a Woman Martyr by the Lombard painter, Carlo Francesco Nuvolone , bequeathed to the museum. It is similar to other figures painted by the artist, notably a queen posing for a painter

Maurice Denis does not in any way correspond to the image of the doomed artist : not only was he Christian but he is also fashionably popular today (not always hand in hand ). After the retrospective staged by Orsay in 2007, a series of exhibitions and thematic publications have recently explored the painter's ties with Brittany

After training in Berlin, then spending time in Sweden and France where he frequented Jean-Georges Wille's studio, the landscapist Jakob Philipp Hackert traveled to Italy in 1768 where he was painter to the King of Naples, Ferdinand IV from 1786 to 1799 before spending his last years finally in Tuscany. The Dresden museums have just purchased a landscape by this artist representing The Sibyl's Temple in Tivoli
